More videos...more art...more editing

This past weekend I was able to complete another video project with artist Christian Cortes.

Back in January Chris flew down with fellow artist John Smalls to participate in a Graffiti tour in Puerto Rico.

Chris and John came back with tons of amazing footage for me to edit.

In fact, there's so much footage Cortes and I decided to create a video series of the tour.

I'm having a great time working on this video series, it's a first for me, and I get to see how artist in Puerto Rico get down and how they embrace others work.

Check it out:

Cortesnyc's Puerto Rico Graff Tour - Part II
Recorded by John Smalls
Edited by Tameeka Ballance
Original Music by Christian Cortes

You can check out Cortesnyc's Puerto Rico Graff Tour - Part I from an older post on my blog or on my Youtube Page

Also check out Chris's art blog [BlackBook] as well as John's art blog [Ronin Report] ... pretty dope stuff....

Beer, Liquor, & Burgers...

Happy Monday Blog peeps....

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend...

Here's a lil recap of mines...

On Friday night, I just relaxed and watched tv. It's something I needed to do. I had to get away from the internet and away from all of the Michael Jackson music videos and news coverage.

I did stay away from all the popular channels and luckily I got to see a lil Degrassi, some west indian music videos, and all the shenanigans that's shown on BCAT (Brooklyn Community Access Television).

On Saturday I spent the day with artist Cortes editing and making music for our latest video project. (That video will be posted up soon).
It was really a productive day.

I was so grateful to be inside since the weather sucked later that evening ... I filmed a lil bit of the rain .... I thought the footage was cool...

And on Sunday, I headed out to Queens to check out Keith And The Girl's "Burger Off"... ahhh I had such a good time, I got to film a lil, watch them do a live show, there was so much beer, liquor, delicious burgers and good times.

I ate so much yesterday I was still full this morning... :-/

Here's some pics from The Burger Off.

And if you want to hear the podcast episode about the Burger Off .. go to Keithandthegirl.com it's the episode titled; "Burger War"

MJ's Death

Hello Blog Readers,,,

Earlier today, I started writing a blog post about a movie trailer and while I was writings and going back and forth checking twitter and facebook ,,, I realized that my movie trailer review would disappear in the many many posts about Michael Jackson's death.

As the whole world may now know, Michael Jackson passed away yesterday. He was an amazing performer and an internationally known artist. He influenced a lot of today's musicians with his singing and dancing. I grew up listening to his music and I even enjoyed his last album "Invincible" released in 2001.

It's amazing how so many people are praising and celebrating his life. There's even Michael Jackson tribute parties happening tonight and over the weekend.

I just wonder how long this will last.

I've noticed that when celebrities pass away it seems like the internet explodes with information about this person.

I'm guessing that people will talk about MJ's death up until his funeral or until another big name dies.

People aren't twitterring about David Carradine (the guy from Kung-fu)? or even about actress Bea Arthur? And what about Farrah Fawcett? She died the same day as MJ.

I hope people continue to celebrate him, his legacy, and his music.

I also hope that even after all the dirty secrets of his life are soon revealed... his "fans" will still celebrate all the good things he's done.

Here's one of the last songs that I really really really liked by Michael..... "Break of Dawn"

(There was no video for it ... this is just the song over random images)

RIP Michael Jackson

The Most Uncomfortable Thing of The Week 6/26/09 - "Bling Bling"

The other day I was blog surfing and some bling bling photos hit me in the face!
I saw these photos and literally shook my head..... have a look:

Maybe there's something I'm missing but... why would you wear a chain that says: FAKE ASS CHAIN ?

Arrested much?
Also!!! Please sir pull up your pants!

LOL! This is so unattractive! And I can't imagine the smell that comes out of that thing! :'-(

What ever happened to just gold chains and rings???? ... the good ole' days....

I'm trying to understand why people wear all of this unnecessary jewelry but from the looks of things these men are getting out of hand.

During my research of "bling" people are turning everyday items into "chains" i.e. ipods, crayon boxes, eye patches, video games, and video game controllers. .... I wonder how far people will go with this? SMH at it all.

Trailer Friday's - The Week of June 19th, 09

I hope everyone had a great week...

I had to end this week off with a trailer.

This one's from my Netflix queue.

Awhile ago I saw an article about the death of a man named Kenneth Pinyan.
The article just stated that Mr. Pinayn had sex with a horse and died. The article also discussed the controversy around the documentary made about him titled; "Zoo".

This article blew my mind because I've never heard about people having sex with horses and the term "Zoophilia".

So I started googling and seeing a bunch of "not right" things and all kinds of mammal on mammal intercourse. But I still didn't have a clear explanation on what this "zoophilia" was and why the hell would people do this.

I figured that this movie (being a documentary) would give me some insight on what's going on in people's minds when it comes to sexing animals.

So,,, last night I finally watched it and I'm still not 100% clear on the subject of zoophilia. I understand that I can research it but the filmmakers could have provided a lil more info.

The movie only spoke of horses and not other animals. And, it only spoke of men having sex with animals, there must be women doing this too.... it was wayyy too artsy and they didn't dig deeper into this man's life... what happened to his family? has anything like this happened since his death? arghhhh!

Well... here's the trailer.... check out the movie if your interested... if you do watch it or have seen it... let me know if you agree with me

The Most Uncomfortable Thing of The Week 6/19/09

For the past week my train rides have not been so good.

I love New York City but I really think the trains are getting to me.

A week ago I rode the F Train Queens bound around 8 in the morning. It was a bit crowded.
I figured I'd be sensible and not stand near the door because that just blocks people from entering and exiting the train.

So I moved into the middle of the train. There was a semi-empty pole. This pole had a woman attached to it,, she was sort of hugging it. There was really no where else I could have stood so I squeezed my hand through the pole and her body and said "excuse me." She proceeded to hug the pole and just looked at me.

This situation just made me want to blog my lil heart out about how ridiculous some people are while they are on the train.

Here are 3 simple rules that everyone should follow while riding the New York City subway trains.

RULE #1: Do not hug the pole. If the train is crowded and people need somewhere to stand and something to hold on to, be considerate and share the pole. It does not belong to you!!! (See example below... and yes that's my hand near that ladies face)

RULE #2: Be aware of personal space. I understand that people get comfortable and they do not like moving around on the trains. But we all should be aware that people need space.

i.e. Last Sunday I was on a crowded 7 train going to Flushing and this woman decided to practically sit on top of me so she could squeeze into an available seat. I had no problem with that. But I did have a problem with her still sitting very close to me even when the train emptied out. (Have a look at the photo below...... there were available seats in front of us, to the left of us, and to the right of us.... but she decided she wanted to stay near me)

RULE #3: Do not sit on the train floor. Goodness! I know people are exhausted but do we really need to sit on the floor? AND! if you do decide to sit on the floor, do not sit directly in front of people.

i.e. Last week while riding on the A train Manhattan bound. This man decided to have a seat on the floor leaning against the interior door. This man sat in front of me, limiting my leg space, and his face was not too far from some ladies derriere. (See photo below.)

Please people be considerate and use common sense when riding the trains.
And those are my 3 simple rules to making a train ride more delightful.

Trailer Friday's - The Week of June 12th, 09

TGIF. I hope we all are looking forward to a great weekend.

Speaking of looking forward to.... the other day I was on youtube and saw a bunch
of Final Destination video clips. I thought that was a little strange since the last movie came out in 2006.

Little did I know there's a part 4 coming out in August!!!

I really liked the last 3 movies and I really got into them.
I have to admit they all are cheesy but I always liked the death scenes.
These kids would get murdered in the funniest and most unreal ways.
I'd jump out of my seat, sit back down and just laugh.

I'm also pumped that it's in 3-D.

Check out the trailer.... hope you enjoy it.

I just had a "Zack Attack"

Whoa... I just had a Zack Attack... someone please hold me......

I was looking through some entertainment sites and came across this video of Mark Paul Gosselar (Zack from Saved by the Bell) on the Jimmy Fallon Show...

OMG! Mark so looks the same!!!
He looks so young!
It's probably just a lot of make-up or maybe he's a natural California blond beachboy.... *drool*
Ah.... or maybe it's really CGI....lmao..... but all jokes aside

To all the SBTB fans out there you'll love this clip....

Wow! I think that just made my day.... and while we're on the subject of Saved by the Bell here are 2 of my favorite scenes from the show .... the best and most popular scenes of all seasons

****After spending so much unnecessary time on youtube seeing all of these Saved by the Bell mash-up's.... I came across some one's re-enactment of "Jessie's Song" ... the comments are hilarious... AND!!! I saw this video of the AC Slater/Zack Morris fight with a Dominican voice over........ What do you guys think?

This video was labeled: "The Dominican Sav By The Bel from the makers of Platano con salami"

Fun Weekendz

Good Day Blog Readers ....

On my last post I mentioned my weekend plans .... I did everything I said I would do except for hanging out in Long Island City (Queens) but overall there were a lot of fun times had this weekend....

Starting out with Friday night ... I met up with Cortesnyc and we talked about the Grand Opening of his Merchandise Online Store ...

I was very excited when he announced this .... he's an amazing self driven artist that created such a following people go crazy over his artwork .... it's incredible .... plus it's inspiring to see a living artist build his very own empire .... simply awesome!!!

So check out his store ... order some gear .... support a real living artist!

Then Saturday came along ... it was a beautiful day ... perfect weather .... a break from all the rain last week .... it started off with an awesome Yoga class with an instructor named Allison. I've never taken her classes before but now I'm hooked... she's a great yoga instructor and she allows everyone to get into poses at their own pace .... I had a great work out also .... my body was very sore after class .... and instead of going home and resting I took a trip to Ikea (Brooklyn) with my lovely friend Venita.

This was my first time going to Ikea in Brooklyn. We took the shuttle bus there and back.

It was good times. We had lunch, got some house hold items, I even purchased a giant amber candle and had frozen yogurt!... Ikea is so the summer jump-off.

After that I went home, got dressed and headed out to meet Patrice at The Brooklyn Yard, we had giant Sapporo's and hung out with Emmy. We had a great night out with another special lady; Chemda. Our night included a stop at Brooklyn's famous Havana Outpost and bowls of pasta in the lower east side.

On Sunday, I recovered from the good times and yoga pain by hanging with my roomie Danielle. We had the most delicious lunch from Nice Guys,,, my burger was sooooooo good, it even had A-1 steak sauce on it!

And!!! We got to take peanuts home.... (if you eat in at nice guys they usually have peanuts at the tables to snack on).

I had such a great weekend and I want to thank all of you involved and those of you who took the time to read this post.

Good dayz...

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone had a good week.

I'm looking forward to the weekend ...... mainly because I switched up my yoga schedule a bit ..... I'm going to take a Saturday morning Yoga class instead of my weekly Wednesday class ....

I'm so pumped up for that ....

Here's a lil peak of the studio that I go to .... it's called Yoga Union and they have amazing teachers there ....

Hopefully in the future, I can get some live yoga photos to post up ......

Later that night I plan on hanging out with some friends in Long Island City *if it doesn't rain .... but if I do go I'll take pics and film a lil so I can post it up for you guyz ....

And now for your Friday enjoyment.....here's a funny video I came across called:

"Top 60 Ghetto Names"

.... it's surprisingly funny .... who ever put this together did a good job b/c I managed to watch it 2 times ....

Enjoy and have a great weekend! MuahZ!

The Most Uncomfortable Thing of The Week - June 5, 2009

In the past, I've posted photo's and video's that just had "uncomfortable" written all over it.... I would usually post these articles on Friday's and I know today is only Wednesday but there has already been some very uncomfortable situations going on around me...

First off, I understood that yesterday evening was 71 degrees... it was nasty out.... but was it hot enough to walk around without a shirt??
Was it that necessary to show everyone your "Marital Arts" tattoo??
This guy just walked around 5th avenue shirtless...
His body was not hideous but it's just not okay to do this....

Secondly, I've noticed that the train station stop West 4th Street is full of crazy people. These people are not usually bums, they are just wacky!
Two days ago I was waiting for the F train on the lower platform and this woman was digging through a garbage bin, her movement was very jittery and she seemed angry and before I could get my camera out of my bag she took an empty plastic cup out of the garbage and threw it at a woman. The woman waiting for her train just looked at the "crazy lady" in shock and disgust.

Suddenly the "crazy lady" stopped digging through the garbage and started going through a newspaper on top of the bin.
Have a look....

*This is not the first craziness I've come across at this train station ... I have a small collection of video clips and photos of activities along West 4th Street (stay tuned for that post)

And finally, I am soooo over seeing "big people" dance to Beyonce's song "Single Ladies".
I know Youtube is full of wacky embarrassing videos but it's not fun to look at these people jiggle...it's VERY uncomfortable and it's not funny!!!
I'm ranting about this because I've seen people post these videos up on all of the social sites and make a big deal about them ... I just wish the people in these videos would stop dancing and do something productive like vlog about the song instead of this crap below *shake my head*

Large Fella' dancing to "Single Ladies"
