Photo of the Day 5.31.10

Photo #31 -

Today's the last day of the month. I had a blast posting a photo a day. I will hopefully continue this in July.

Thank you everyone for responding and looking at my photos.

My final photo was taken today at Flushing Meadow Park. I spent most of the day enjoying the warm weather.

Here's a pic of a kid climbing a tree. I remember these good ole' days when all of our worries were playing and more playing.

Happy Memorial Day as well everyone.

Sleepy Mondays

Happy Sleepy Monday!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day!

This Sleepy Monday post is dedicated to my girls..... Thank you all for gathering and making Sunday Brunch one of the best I've been to in awhile.

Tonight I had dinner at Cositas Ricas in Jackson Heights, Queens. I went in there hungry and came out so full. There was so much meat and shrimp and rice ... oh I so have to go back.

While doing a lil research on Cositas Ricas I came across a great article and a food podcast episode about this restaurant. Check it out from a blog called: We Are Never Full

Tonight I went to a lil spot called Empanada Mama. We managed to get some really tasty white sangria. I got to meet the owner and hang out w/ some friends. Their empanada list is pretty original and interesting.

A good thing to remember is that this restaurant is open 24 hours.

Here's their site... I recommend this place... http://www.empmamanyc.com/

Let Beyonce Be...

Today I managed to visit the nail salon before they closed. I went to a new Salon and these ladies were amazing. The salon which had a full hair salon and massage parlour in the back is called "Lovely Nails" and it's in Flushing Queens.

I do not think that I'll ever get over my love for nail art. *I know the design I got is simple but in my heart I'd love some bright pink nails w/ a purple design ..

I finally got to catch up on Season 2 of my new favorite Showtime series called The United States of Tara.

This show is about a mother/wife named Tara that has dissociative identity disorder (similar to multiple personalities) Whenever she's stressed, she transforms into one of her alternate personalities. My favorite "alter" is a womanizer named Buck. It's a great series. If you haven't heard about this show check out the trailers below.

Bubble Tea Fail!
Since I moved to Astoria I've tried finding a restaurant that makes/sells bubble tea.
Today I went to get Thai iced tea and I saw that my favorite Thai restaurant added bubble tea to the menu.
Ohhhhh why did I even try it! This was the worst taro bubble tea I've ever had. The mixture was gritty and they added too much ice making it very watery.
From my experience, I recommend never getting bubble tea from a Thai place. You'll be highly disappointed.

*Look at this watery mess....

Today I got a chance to watch the Gypsy Rock Opera called VIVA PATSHIVA.
I've seen this show before but it was even more special to see it in Flushing at the Queens Library. And as usual the lovely and talented Chemda Khalili stole the show and made me tear up when she sang one of her solos.

If you want to check out the show go to the website for dates and times... I highly recommend it.

I will try and not post only photos of delicious "nom noms" or bubble tea... but I have to express my love for clementines...
Over the past few days I've probably consumed about 15 clementines... they are just so tiny, so easy to peel and just so delicious. For those who do not know what Clementines are not oranges or tangerines. Here's a proper explanation from my good ole' friend wikipedia:

A clementine is a variety of mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata), named in 1902. The exterior is a deep orange colour with a smooth, glossy appearance. Clementines separate easily into seven to fourteen moderately-juicy segments. They are very easy to peel, like a tangerine, but are almost always seedless. Clementines are, thus, also known as seedless tangerines.
The traditional story is that it was "originally an accidental hybrid said to have been discovered by Father Clément Rodier in the garden of his orphanage in Misserghin, Algeria." However, there are claims it originated in China much earlier.
And, Clementines lose their desirable seedless characteristic when bees cross-pollinate them with other fruit.

Sleepy Mondays!

Happy Monday All!

I'm actually not that sleepy this Monday but this rainy weather could soothe anyone to sleep.. and it seems to have put this lady and young man in the mood to sleep.

Photo of The Day - 5.1.10

Hello Bloggers & Blog Readers.

Recently, I've seen a lot of bloggers working with the concept of posting at least 1 photo of what they are doing or photos of themselves each day. I've decided to tag along. I think you readers out there will get to know me a lil more with these photos. Maybe we'll all connect in someway.

So.....I will post 1 photo a day on my blog for 1 month.

And, I'll give a brief explanation of the photo.

Photo #1 -

Today was one of the most beautiful days NYC has had in a long time.
I went for a nice walk in Flushing Queens and came across a lil tiny shop called "Bubble Tea".

I absolutely love bubble tea.

So, I stopped by and grabbed a nice cold refreshing black tea.

The tapioca balls were delicious. They were not like the usually tapioca balls they were more like gummy bears.

So delish.
