My dearest friend NettaP was given a chance to show and talk about her awesome youtube videos at a meetup.com group called "Big Screen Little Screen" - I had a great time and I plan on attending more of these meetups.
Tonight I had the honor of attending the first live show of a podcast I listen to called "Blacking it Up" - the people in the above photo is as follows:
My old Nike's got me thru my first "butt & abs" work out class.
The work-out was great but it was also funny to see the ladies in the gym drool over the super buffed instructor who ended the class by saying "you ladies are tough - love you all."
Last Friday while at dinner I mentioned to Aldo, Cole, and Patrice that Beyonce had a new song coming out and I couldn't figure out where the beat she is using is from.
Patrice figured it out it's from Major Lazor's "Hold the Line" ...
So I'm predetermined to like this song... damn you Beyonce! damn you!!
I have to thank the lovely NettaP for giving me her SXSW winnings ... I was so close to winning a tivo from loopt.com but failed and ms netta gave me her tivo.
I headed to Brooklyn today to take care of some tax business and I've noticed that more and more train stations have these large displays up letting everyone know the exact time the next train will arrive.
I have seen these displays in the past (union square) but now it seems to be everywhere.
I think this helps other impatient New Yorkers like myself.
Hmm... not sure how I feel about this... it's a sleep aid called Dream Water... I'm not big on taking drinks or pills to fall asleep. But I'll drink a tall cup of coffee or a red bull to stay awake.
If anyone's interested this sleep aid is on sale at your local Duane Reid.
For the past 2 years I've enjoyed live music at Joe's Pub in NYC.
The vibe is always cool, it always reminds of a jazz club, and I was blown away when I saw Corinne Bailey Rae there awhile back.
The only problem with Joe's Pub is the size and layout.
In February 2010, I purchased tickets to see one of my favorite musicians named Greg Laswell (I can sing you every song from his Three Flights from Alto Nido 2008 album).
I arrived at Joe's Pub which is located in NOHO an hour before the show started and the line was way down the block, by the time I got into the venue, I ended up seeing the performance from the bar in the back. I still enjoyed myself and I sang every song with Greg but I would have loved to sit and watch him perform.
The other day, I was going through some posts on Gothamist.com and stumbled upon an article titled; Thank You, Universe: Joe's Pub Gets a Makeover .... I clicked on the link and smiled.... there is hope!
Maybe when I return to see a show I will not feel crammed or have waiters constantly walking past me as they balance drinks and snacks.
Check out Greg Laswell at the show I attended back in 2010:
I've decided to bring back the idea of posting a photo a day for a month on my blog...I did this blog activity back in May and July. You can check out the photos here:
And with that out of the way, here's my first photo for April 2011.
It was a long Friday and even though I planned on cooking dinner, I gave up and decided to get some dragon rolls and kimchi fried rice topped with an egg ...
Yes I am aware that I'm eating Sushi and Korean rice but I think that's just one luxury of always eating and hanging out in Flushing, Queens :)
This meal came from one of my favorite fast food Japanese / Korean spots in Queens, Roll Zip.
