I'm in New Jersey today recording a graffiti wall.
While at the wall a pretty little butterfly came near me for a few minutes. Take a look at this little guy.

Photo of the Day - 4.25.12

When I returned home from work this evening I had a bit of a sore throat, I have two co-workers that are sick and I'm so blaming them. But I should really blame the weather and the fact that it's freezing in my office.

I can't remember where I heard this old wive's tale, but someone once told me that a shot of whiskey will help cure a sore throat.

It's probably a lie but since I had some jack D at home, I dug up my hooters shot glass (given to me by  blogger Candice W.) and took a nice big shot of whiskey.

My throat still hurts but maybe it will get better by tomorrow :)

Earlier today I purchased these cool bluetooth wireless headphones and of course they do not work, I now have to go to the geek squad and figure out what happened and why my new headphones are not syncing up with my iPhone 4 *sad face*

Wish me luck readers.

My train went out of service today but it didn't upset me, I got a chance to take this great pic plus I think it's cool that I now live a few blocks away from Citi Field.
Go Mets!

Photo of the Day - 4.22.12

Today was a long day but now I can sit back and drink these delicious daiquiris I whipped up.

To create the daiquiris above I used:

1 oz of Tropicana's Orange Strawberry and Banana juice

1 oz of Cruzan Black Cherry Rum

1/2 cup of ice

I blended all 3 ingredients for a few minutes and BOOM!

Sunday Evening Daiquiris were created.

These two cutie pies came to my office today. The dog on the left is my favorite because he's so energetic and just so loving. As soon as I bent down to his level he showered me with doggie kisses ;)

Photo of the Day - 4.19.12

My saving grace today was a nice tall glass of iced coffee.

I'm not a huge coffee person. It really makes me jittery. Even the smallest amount makes me hit the wall! And if I don't eat something before or after I have coffee I get the shakes. It's the weirdest thing!!

But on a day like today where I needed an extra pick me up, a trip to Starbucks was mandatory.

Photo of the Day - 4.17.12

Afterwork I went to get a manicure in my old Astoria neighborhood.

I'm taking a break from the UV Gel Manicure's for awhile because of all the skin cancer talk buzzing in the news and on blogs.

So it's regular ole' nail polish for me.

I'm very pleased with the color and my nail length, my nail technician couldn't believe how long my nails have grown.

Here's my local fire station - Engine 273 Ladder 129.
I'm thinking of taking a tour of the station since it's just a few blocks away from my apartment and I haven't gone inside of a fire house since I was a little girl.
That's another bucket list task for me.

Photo of the Day - 4.15.12

Today was a really lazy sunday for me and I liked it!

I took care of things at home, I actually got a chance to nap, I watched two movies, and went for a stroll in my new neighborhood.

There's a little pet shop that I've never noticed near Northern Boulverard. I decided to go in and have a look.

The entire first floor of the pet shop was filled with fish tanks. The blood parrot fish tank was one of the most  interesting. The shop named these fish "Heart Shaped Parrot Fish", they were not so heart shaped in my opinion but they were all a deep red color so I could see where they were going with this description.

I've never heard of the Blood parrot cichlid so I looked it up and here's some info on the fish species above. Apparently these little guys are pretty controversial since they are a man made hybrid and people have been dying these poor guys.
The Blood Parrot Cichlid is a hybrid fish that was first created in Taiwan in the mid to late 1980's. Blood Parrots have a round body, a beak shaped head with an upside down triangle mouth. They are often seen in bright orange in coloration, but seen in other colors such as red, yellow, brown, and tan. Other colors have been produced such as green, blue, and purple by dyeing the fish, which shortens life expectancy. (source#1)(source#2)

Saw this in my hood. Thought it was interesting. I've passed it several times and this was my first time stopping and taking a pic of it. Next time I may just use the QR code on the right side and really see what this sign is all about.

Photo of the Day - 4.12.12

Earlier today I was at Fresthetic in Brooklyn for ACRYLIC ALCHEMY – A Solo Exhibition by Brian Kirhagis.
I recently met Brian (BK) at a graffiti show in Manhattan and his work is just amazing, I love the way he captures images within his main image.
I recommend you readers out there to check out his work: Brian Kirhagis
I couldn't decide which of his pieces were my favorite so here are a few paintings that were on display that caught my eye.

Photo of the Day - 4.11.12

Earlier today I went to grab a small red velvet tea from Argo Tea and while I was walking back, crossing the street I noticed a couple without jackets, holding a set of black wings, and a photographer waiting for the street lights to change. I didn't think anything of it until I was crossing and the couple sat in the middle of the street and the photographer started snapping away. My favorite part of the photo is the lady with the trench coat crossing the street and looking at the couple in amazement.

Only in New York.

Photo of the Day - 4.3.12

The photo above was taken at The Museum of Sex. What your seeing is an assortment of boob shaped chocolate lollipops.

Tonight, I was given a ticket to the Museum of Sex. Even though I've worked a few blocks away from the museum for years I never took the time to go in and see what the fuss was about.

On this Tuesday evening the museum was pretty empty. That was a good thing because I overheard a couple talking about their last visit and how it was so crowded. The museum is pretty small with a lot of small corners, but those corners are packed with information.

My walk around the museum was enjoyable, I learned about the history of sex on the big screen before the 70s, I learned about different sex fetishes around America, I learned about the first documentation of a duck rape, I saw photos of certain animals self pleasuring themselves, and I was able to touch a real doll (I used my hand sanitizer afterwards) those dolls (male and female) are surprisingly large and are quite heavy.

All in all I had a great time and I would definitely go back and spend more time examining certain exhibits and possibly checking out the bar (I got to the museum at 7pm, the bar closes at 7:30 and the museum itself closes at 8pm).

If you plan on going to the Museum of Sex, I recommend going in the afternoon, take a friend - it will add to the experience, and be sure to give yourself at least 2-3 hours to comfortably walk around and see all of the displays.

Here a quick preview of some of the displays I enjoyed.

Photo of the Day - 4.2.12

This morning I went to the eye doctor. The photo below shows a scene from an animated video that played on loop during my visit. The video kept describing eye surgery. It was pretty annoying yet informative.

Long story short, I do not need eye surgery, I received my yearly eye exam and I got a brand new prescription for glasses and I look forward to shopping for some specs.

I'll post a few photos of my glasses options and have you blog readers help me decide which glasses look best on me.

Stay tuned!

Sleepy Monday's - Reader Submission

Thank you Kelly for submitting the Sleepy Monday photo below... Sunday's party must have been really good!

I hope these two make it to work on time.

Photo of the Day - 4.1.12

This April I decided to follow what I did last year and post a photo a day for one month.
To see last April's Pics - CLICK HERE.
Here's my first photo of the month.

The Hunger Games

The photo above is one of the first scenes from The Hunger Games movie.

For months, I was excited about the movie but once I started seeing more and more previews and I started hearing more and more reviews I became weary and decided not to rush out and see the movie. Since I enjoyed the book so much, I was slowly realizing that I may not like the movie so I gave it a week and let the hype settle.

I have to say that I was a bit disappointed in some of the important details that were left out from the book. I expected Katniss to be more devastated and less emotional in the beginning of the movie and I expected way more action through out, but it's all about the directors view I guess.

I really did not like all of the shaky cam shots, I get that it works during action scenes but it was done way too much.

I do have high hopes for the next movie (Catching Fire), and I did like the way this movie ended.
